Energis, the national telecommunications network owned by National
Grid, has apppointed Dewe Rogerson as its PR adviser.
The move follows press speculation that National Grid was to float its
telecommunications business. The speculation was quashed last week by
the utility’s chief executive David Jones. He told the City that
flotation was not an immediate option and said Energis would focus on
brand building for the time being.
Dewe Rogerson executive chairman Tony Carlisle said: ’Our mandate is
corporate, to help build their brand and presence in the UK’.
It is understood that DR won the newly-created account in competition
with four other firms.
Energis began operating in 1993 and now has a turnover of pounds 100
Hung off existing electricity pylons, it uses fibre optic cables and is
in great demand for digital communications and Internet business.
