Energis, the national telecommunications network owned by National

Grid, has apppointed Dewe Rogerson as its PR adviser.

The move follows press speculation that National Grid was to float its

telecommunications business. The speculation was quashed last week by

the utility’s chief executive David Jones. He told the City that

flotation was not an immediate option and said Energis would focus on

brand building for the time being.

Dewe Rogerson executive chairman Tony Carlisle said: ’Our mandate is

corporate, to help build their brand and presence in the UK’.

It is understood that DR won the newly-created account in competition

with four other firms.

Energis began operating in 1993 and now has a turnover of pounds 100

million.

Hung off existing electricity pylons, it uses fibre optic cables and is

in great demand for digital communications and Internet business.
