Cohn and Wolfe’s technology team has been chosen to launch Search

UK, a fully-indexed database of UK web sites, following a competitive

pitch.

The account is the first the team has won since it was established

through the acquisition of technology specialist SMI PR in August 1997

(PR Week, 15 August 1997).

’This win puts us on the technology map,’ said managing director Martin

Thomas. ’It’s symbolic of our move into this area because we couldn’t

have won it this time last year.’

Search UK lists only UK and UK-focused sights, so users can avoid

trawling through long lists of irrelevant sites. Marketing manager Mark

Bird said Search UK had developed a tool which will appeal to all users

of the internet, and will encourage new users to go on line for the

first time.
