Diary: Indonesian riots aren’t enough to stop the FH annual report coming out

I gather Fishburn Hedges’ art team were hit by recent events in

South-East Asia. Art director Sue Howells was on a photo shoot in

Indonesia and the Philippines for FH client, Hong Kong-based Asian

property and telecom conglomerate First Pacific.

The first stop was Manila, where Howells was just about to start

directing the shoot of some of First Pacific’s top management dogs for

the company’s annual report when armoured guards forced her to abandon

the whole session.

’No reason was given and the team were just pushed off, despite having

official clearance,’ FH’s senior director on design Chris North, told

me.

Next stop was Jakarta, where another set of First Pacific executives

posing for the camera were so petrified at the riots going on that they

refused to stay in the city overnight. So FH’s art team was forced to

hotfoot it back to Singapore straight after the shoot, bringing a new

meaning to the term jet setting.

Despite all the drama, the annual report was successfully published a

couple of weeks ago. North said: ’The report looks lovely. The front

cover has a picture of secretaries snipping the end of a branch - it’s

quite symbolic and very feng shui.’
