Cross-channel ferry company Sea France has appointed BGB and

Associates to raise its profile.

Fees are expected to reach up to pounds 150,000 for the consumer and

corporate account which was awarded two weeks ago following a five-way

pitch.

The four others pitching for the contract were Barclay Stratton, Bell

Pottinger Good Relations, Representation Plus and Affinity

Consulting.

Incumbent Charles Barker declined to re-pitch.

BGB will build a media relations campaign, develop reader promotions

with national newspapers, and manage Sea France’s presence at events

targeted at consumers, such as the Ideal Home Exhibition.

The agency will handle crisis PR and work closely with the company’s

in-house PR team as it lobbies the UK Government over the European

Commission’s proposed abolition of duty free, which is set to take place

in June.

Sea France runs ferries from Calais to Dover, in competition with P&O

Stena and Hoverspeed. It is the second-largest carrier on the route

after P&O Stena.

BGB will complement the firm’s current pounds 3 million advertising

campaign which features celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli and

lowest fare guarantees.
