PUBLIC SECTOR: Bottery to get freelance PROs at Action Aid

Britain’s third-largest overseas development charity, Action Aid, has appointed Simon Bottery to head its press and editorial department. Bottery, who has been acting in the role since the end of last year, was previously the head of editorial at the charity, which has merged the two roles in order to save money. The previous head of press, Susannah Cox, left six months ago. Bottery said the newly merged system will free up money to pay for freelance PROs to boost the nine strong press and editorial team. ’Hopefully this will allow us to bring in some expertise on particular campaigns to be more pro-active in the future,’ he said.
