French cheese producer Bel has hired Barclay Stratton to help

increase market share for its leading brand, The Laughing Cow.

The consumer and trade account, carrying fees of around pounds 60,000,

was won last week following a competitive pitch. The agency will also

work on its Cheez Dippers brand.

Bel previously handled PR in-house and it is the first time it has hired

an outside agency in the UK.

Barclay Stratton will promote The Laughing Cow brand to mothers and

small children through parenting magazines, particularly via reader

offers.

A campaign is also being developed to target 11- to 14-year-olds.

Bel UK brand manager Vicky Idle said: ’It will bring an added dimension

to our brands in the UK’.

Barclay Stratton managing director Jenny Thomas said: ’We want to bring

alive the energy of Laughing Cow with a targeted campaign.’
