The Hospitality Training Foundation, which promotes training and

education in the catering, restaurant and hotel industry, has appointed

APCO UK as its first public affairs agency.

APCO was appointed without a competitive pitch. It has been briefed to

raise the profile of the hospitality industry among political and

business opinion-formers.

This includes communicating the benefits of the foundation’s training

and education schemes in order to secure funding for these

initiatives.

APCO has been appointed on a rolling contract and will report to

foundation chairman John Brackenbury. He is also chairman of cross-trade

association Business In Sport and Leisure, which uses APCO for

government relations advice.

APCO senior associate Julie Green will lead the training foundation

account.

APCO UK deputy managing director Nick DeLuca said: ’Part of the

foundation’s role is to create a national perspective for the

hospitality industry. We’ll help them pass that on to Government.’
