Scotland The Brand has appointed Beattie Media to handle media

relations for Scotland ’98, a week-long event in London’s Covent Garden

organised to promote Scottish products and services in the UK.

Scotland The Brand is a Scottish Enterprise-funded agency set up to

raise Scotland’s profile in the global marketplace. It appointed Beattie

Media to the three-month account, following a competitive four-way

pitch. Fees, which will be determined according to the success of the

event, held this year for the first time, are expected to total pounds

30,000.

’London is the most important export market for Scottish goods and

products, and it was realised that something needed to be done to

promote Scotland in the UK,’ said Gordon Beattie, managing director of

Beattie Media.

It is anticipated that the event, involving stalls set up to promote a

wide range of local wares, will be repeated on an annual basis.

Scotland the Brand recently considered appointing a permanent agency to

handle PR, but has delayed the decision while it re-evaluates its needs.
