The Media Foundry has picked up the PR account for Digital One, the

radio consortium which is to launch the UK’s first national commercial

digital radio later this year.

The agency, which has previously worked for radio companies including

Chrysalis and Luxembourg-based CLT, will handle Digital One’s press

relations and will take the lead in a range of activities aimed at

consumer and business audiences.

It will also work with Digital One’s recently appointed partner,

marketing agency Clarke Hooper, developing PR initiatives for the

station’s promotional partners, such as receiver manufacturers.

The Media Foundry managing director Peter Law said: ’To be involved in

creating a new medium is very exciting. Digital One’s remit is to grow

digital radio. They will be pulling partners in and we will help shape

that activity.’

Digital One, which is owned by the GWR Radio Group and cable operator

and broadcast services company NTL, will broadcast seven new national

commercial digital services later this year, having won a licence from

the Radio Authority last October.

The licence requires the consortium to promote digital radio to

broadcasters, retailers and manufacturers of digital receivers as well

as listeners.
