London News Radio tunes into Hammond

London News Radio has handed its corporate PR account to Hammond

Communications without a pitch.

Freud Communications, which has held the account up to now, will

continue to handle consumer PR. Freud and Hammond are both part of the

Abbott Mead Vickers group.

Under the new arrangement Hammond will run the trade and

business-to-business PR for the company’s two stations LBC 1152AM and

News Direct 97.3FM, while Freud will work on programming PR aimed at

listeners. The win follows the arrival of David Longman at Hammond, who

has 25 years’ experience in radio marketing and PR.

The agency aims to create a separate broadcast unit to service the

requirements of media clients. It is also pitching for the Commercial

Radio Companies’ Association’s public affairs account.
