COMMENT: LETTERS; Will the real Mr Ellis please stand up?

My attention has been drawn to your diary story, ‘The BBC is fighting journalistic fire with fire’ (PR Week, 27 October), which refers to ‘Burson-Marsteller’s tabloid hack turned media adviser, Steve Ellis’.

I am sure you would be kind enough to point out to your readers that

there are two Steve Ellises. For my part, I have been a financial

journalist for more years than I care to remember, and this week

collected the Bradford and Bingley Award as the country’s top freelance

personal finance journalist. I am responsible for producing both a

weekly personal finance column for the Sun, together with a monthly

supplement, as well as contributing to other nationals. So I have the

‘tabloid’ tag as well.

To add to the confusion, I also undertake media training providing

courses for the Association of British Insurers, The British Bankers

Association and IFAP.

Maybe there’s more in a name than people think, given the similarity

between my credentials and my namesake.

Stephen Ellis, The Sun
