5 October - I've been wondering how the political parties will use the web and social media to connect with voters. Given the prominent role such channels played in the American presidential election last year, it seems clear we'd expect to see many similarities in UK election campaigning.

2 October - The Sydney Morning Herald's Julian Lee today sees mischief in the fact the iSnack 2.0 name was registered before the competition (to name a new Vegemite brand) closed ... I suggested maybe this was precautionary because the name was so good! I'm also reported as saying: 'If they've done something untoward and have registered before it is (the competition) allowed to run its course, their true motivations have been revealed and they'll have to apologise and look for ways to take remedial steps.'

1 October - I've spent last night checking out online casinos as an exercise for our consumer team. Speed has form in the sector: the business communications team works for gaming technology provider Inspired Gaming and the consumer and corporate teams have worked for a stack of online poker sites ... My evening of research has been disappointing.
