The insurance firm’s mascot will appear in 22 national shows as part of a pioneering deal between the firm and panto producers Qdos Entertaiment.

Puppets are being specially created for the performances, and scripts are being changed to include the dog’s catchphrases ‘Oh Yes!’ and ‘Oh No!’. Churchill will have final approval on the script, and the writers have to stick to strict brand guidelines.

The idea was the brainchild of Borkowski, Qdos Entertainment’s retained agency. The agency approached Churchill with the idea.

New business director Suresh Raj said: ‘We thought, how much more can brands do to get close to consumers? Why not make Churchill the star of the panto? It’s a perfect fit.’

‘This is the first time the brand has presence on stage as part of the show,' he added.
