NEW YORK: The mayor of New York, Rudoph Giuliani, has lost his

press secretary, Colleen Roche, to PR agency Linden Alschuler and

Kaplan.

Roche’s departure comes at a critical time for Giuliani as he considers

running for a Senate seat in 2000.

Roche is to become an executive vice-president at Linden Alschuler and

Kaplan. Sunny Mindel, Giuliani’s spokesperson during his 1997

re-election campaign and current press secretary for the mayor’s office,

is filling in on a temporary basis.

Before joining Giuliani in 1995, Roche was communications director for

the New York state division of criminal justice services. She was

previously deputy press secretary to Manhattan district attorney Robert

Morgenthan.

Giuliani’s popularity has plunged since his guarded response to the

shooting of an unarmed black man, Amadou Diallo, by four New York police

officers in February.
