Citigate Dewe Rogerson director Ian Seaton has been seconded to
head PR for South African financial services firm Old Mutual in the
run-up to its London flotation this summer.
Part of Seaton’s three-month brief is to recruit a full-time corporate
affairs and investor relations head for the new plc.
This post will report to either Old Mutual’s CEO or its finance director
and oversee all London-based communications, working closely with Old
Mutual’s existing investor relations and PR team in Capetown.
Seaton stepped into the vacant post this week to steer the firm’s PR
until its flotation. He will work closely with Old Mutual finance
director Eric Ansee and the firm’s financial PR agency, College
This is not the first time Seaton has stepped into vacant PR posts on
secondment: last autumn, he completed a two-and-a-half-year stint at
utility Eastern Group, whose finance director was then Ansee.
Old Mutual announced its plans to demutualise and float last year. Once
listed, it is expected to enter the FTSE 100, with an estimated market
capitalisation of between pounds 3.6 and pounds 4.1 billion.
