DIARY: Season of goodwill proves there’s no party like a PR party

PR agencies didn’t disappoint this year with their choice of staff Christmas parties.

PR agencies didn’t disappoint this year with their choice of staff

Christmas parties.

A bit of French seems to be the theme of the season with both Lexis PR

and Freud Communications choosing to whisk their people off to Paris on

Eurostar for a no-holds barred session in a top restaurant.

Lexis’ chief executive Bill Jones took his staff off to plush eaterie La

Perouse, earning top marks for kitsch by entertaining them with bingo

and karaoke on the train.

Matthew Freud took no chances of being accused of Scrooge tendencies by

booking the Eiffel Tower’s restaurant for his agency knees-up.

Back in London, Fishburn Hedges turned to New Labour’s favourite

restaurant, the People’s Palace, only recently vacated by AS Biss and

Co, which held its first anniversary celebrations there.

Fishburn Hedges, never an agency to stint on the party front, held three

agency blow outs over the festive season, including one for clients and

one for journalists. Details of the final, staff party, to be held in

early January, are being kept secret. Rumours that Fishburn Hedges

managing director John Williams will use the occasion to indulge his

penchant for dressing up in McDonald’s uniforms are, apparently,

completely false.
