Burson-Marsteller loses out as HSBC hunts for fresh support

HSBC is conducting a pitch for a new public affairs agency after less than a year with Burson-Marsteller.

The bank switched to B-M late last year (PRWeek, 14 November 2008) after seven years with Bell Pottinger Public Affairs. But HSBC has now put the public affairs account out to pitch again.

HSBC head of media relations Richard Lindsay said B-M would not be repitching, but added: 'They are still working with us.'

But B-M has not listed HSBC as a client in the most recent APPC register, which covers 1 June to 31 August 2009.

B-M said this was an 'administrative error' and HSBC had appeared on PRCA records throughout.
