DIARY: Increased alcohol volume shows what lobbyists are brewing in Westminster

Hoping to curry favour with the new batch of Labour MPs? Well, lager is definitely not the answer, according to Paul Flynn, member for Newport West.

Hoping to curry favour with the new batch of Labour MPs? Well,

lager is definitely not the answer, according to Paul Flynn, member for

Newport West.

Calling on the Government to restrict the ’potentially corrupting

activities’ of lobbyists, Flynn demanded more transparency. The Labour

MP tabled a scathing motion in the House of Commons last week noting the

’depressing new influx into the Palace of Westminster of lobbyists

convinced that alcohol is essential for persuading researchers to

influence Honourable members to do the bidding of the rich commercial

organisations that employ them’.

No doubt the summer break will witness the Betty Ford clinic crammed

with detoxing researchers and lonesome lobbyists will occupy every

corner of Whitehall’s Red Lion.
