Sun Alliance’s direct insurance arm is meeting agencies next week as

part of a review of its public relations support.

Sun Alliance Connections, formed with the merger of the company’s UK

Direct general and life insurance operations, is believed to be

assessing written submissions from a number of agencies.

The agencies under review were selected from an earlier pool of firms

which were invited to submit brief credentials. As part of their written

proposals, agencies were asked to outline creative ideas, relevant case

studies and fee requirements.

Francesca Breeze, Sun Alliance Connections press and public relations

officer confirmed that the company was ‘reviewing operations’ but was

reluctant to go into detail. ‘We are looking at where we are with public

relations and where we want to go in the future. We may take on an

agency or we may not,’ she said.

She added that it was too early to confirm how many agencies Sun

Alliance Connections would see and whether it would be on a retained or

project basis.

PR for the September launch, which focused on Sun Alliance Connections’

products and its ‘personalised’ approach, was handled by Brunswick,

which advises Sun Alliance on City and corporate public relations. The

agency is believed to have been invited to work on the direct wing’s

on-going review.
