NEWS: MS&L celebrates Bally good win

Up-market shoe maker and retailer Bally has appointed Manning Selvage and Lee to handle its UK trade and consumer public relations.

Up-market shoe maker and retailer Bally has appointed Manning Selvage

and Lee to handle its UK trade and consumer public relations.

The agency will handle the Switzerland-based firm’s day-to-day media

relations, new store openings and the gala re-opening of its Bond Street

branch later this year.

MS&L won the public relations account, worth more than pounds 100,000,

around 65 per cent of which is fees, without a pitch. The announcement

of the win follows work by MS&L’s offices in London, and the Hague to

promote this week’s opening of Bally’s new Maastricht store.

MS&L UK managing director Jackie Elliot said that the PR consultancy had

been in discussion with Bally about the UK business for around six

months.

Elliot said Bally, which has 500 stores in 70 countries, was keen to

ensure that its brand, already synonymous with quality, was also

associated with fashionable and up-to-date products.

She linked the consultancy’s appointment to ‘chemistry’ between the two

teams. She added: ‘I think Bally liked the fact that we do a lot of work

for ‘big names’, like Rolex and Lego, and are not frightened by them, I

think they also liked our European network.’
