Unisys, the computer systems and services group, has ended its

year-long search for a UK PR head with the appointment of Jill Pearcy as

UK country communications manager.

The position has been vacant since the departure of Chris Alder, who

left to join German software manufacturer SAP (PR Week, 15 August

1997).

Pearcy will report to Unisys’ vice-president of corporate communications

Martin Sexton, whose remit encompasses Europe, Middle East and

Africa.

Prior to joining Unisys, Pearcy was an associate director at Ogilvy PR

Worldwide where she managed IBM hardware accounts across Europe. In all

Pearcy has 12 years agency experience having also worked at DPA

Corporate Communications as an account manager, Harrison Sadler and

Edelman Europe.

Pearcy will help to develop an integrated public relations approach

across Unisys’ three divisions - Information Services, Computer Systems

and Global Customer Services. She will also work closely with Unisys’ UK

PR agency Grant Butler Coomber which was appointed in June (PR Week, 10

July).

Pearcy does not have an in-house media relations team under her and will

operate as Unisys’ central point of contact for the media.
