Flack: On Expenses - Ivy House, Tonbridge, Kent

Reviewer: Amy Scott, senior account manager, Davies Tanner.

What is it good for?

A relative newcomer to Kent, the Ivy House Dining Room & Bar opened in May 2009. The venue has enjoyed a £150,000 refurbishment, but still exudes 15th century quaintness and charm. It is the perfect place to sample great quality Kentish fare; the menu boasts local produce such as Whitstable seafood, Romney Marsh lamb and Wingham rare breed pork.

Signature dish

The baby squid starter is very popular, as is the Romney Marsh lamb.

Who's the boss?

The Ivy House is the latest addition to the Kent Inns of Distinction portfolio, which is owned by husband and wife team Richard and Sherry Martin. The Ivy House is managed by Daniel Ward.

Tips please

John Burton Race has been appointed as head of development. He is quite often on-site, so if you time it right you might get your food served up by the Michelin-starred chef himself.

What's the damage?

Lunch times are great - you can enjoy two courses for just £9.50.
