Text 100 is to open its first office in India in a move designed to

expand its operations in Africa, southern Asia and the Middle East.

Opening in October, the new branch will be based in Delhi and headed by

Sandeep Kalsi, Text’s managing director in South Africa.

Kalsi explained that, once established, the Delhi branch would look to

form associations with other PR agencies in Bombay, Calcutta, Madras and

Bangalore to create a network spanning India’s linguistically and

culturally diverse regions.

‘With the lifting of economic restrictions, multi-national companies can

use India as a stepping stone to South East Asia,’ explained Kalsi.

‘We are basically piggy backing on the back of these players. India is

very open to hi-tech companies but there is also a shortage of marketing

expertise.’

Kalsi added that Text was already in discussion with around six

companies about handling their PR needs in India, although he declined

to name them.
