Former Lynne Franks board director Tanya Hughes is tipped for the top communications job at high street retailer Superdrug.

Former Lynne Franks board director Tanya Hughes is tipped for the

top communications job at high street retailer Superdrug.

Hughes, who left the agency at Christmas, has not decided whether to go

for the estimated pounds 60,000 position on a full-time or part-time

basis or to set up her own consultancy.

The Superdrug job involves raising awareness of the brand, handling City

relations and building the in-house public relations team.

Superdrug has been looking for a senior PR person to fill the slot since

Angie Moxham left last summer (PR Week, 9 August 1996).

Moxham was poached from agency Le Fevre by Superdrug marketing director

Steven Round in June but returned to her former employer after just two

months.

At present the retailer’s public relations is managed in-house by PR

manager Catherine Emanuel, who heads a department of three. The company

also uses Lexis Public Relations.

Emanuel said that Superdrug has interviewed a number of people for the

job and will decided on a candidate shortly.

A director at Lynne Franks for a year, Hughes was responsible for

attracting new business although she also worked on the Asda

account.

Agency managing director Samantha Royston said of Hughes’ departure that

’both parties agreed her aspirations could be better filled in a

different environment.’

- Jane Boardman, another Lynne Franks director also left at the end of

January. Boardman who worked for Proctor and Gamble, Reckitt and Colman

and Zyma Healthcare, has been replaced by ex-Johnson Wax marketing

controller Ruth Tobbell.
