DIARY: Preaching to the unconverted to entice them into the Lions’ den

Just two weeks after being signed as a non-executive director of

Millwall FC, Tim Jackaman is already turning his PR attentions on the

Lions’ tarnished image.

Square Mile Communications joint MD Jackaman, tells me earnestly that

Millwall’s feared fans have a ’very undeserved reputation’.

’They are fiercely loyal to their team and passionate about

football.

They are good lads. You have to remember that Millwall is not a flash

Premier League side but it is supported by good, honest fans. It’s just

a shame there’s not more of them,’ says Jackaman, who claims to be

getting a team strip as part of his remuneration.

Jackaman, an old mate of Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis, is also trying

to win over his family.

’My 12-year-old son has supported Tottenham Hotspur since he was old

enough to speak: in fact, his first words were ’Come on, you Spurs’,’ he

says.

’But he’s going to switch teams. He doesn’t know it yet but he will.’
