Kaposi calls it a day at Cable and Wireless

Esther Kaposi, who has been leading the communications task force

during the Cable and Wireless Communications merger, is leaving her job

and is not applying for the post as head of corporate communications at

the merged company.

Kaposi confirmed she was leaving at the end of the week, and that she

was ’considering a number of options’ before deciding on her next

move.

She was appointed as PR and corporate affairs manager at Mercury a year

ago and has headed up the CWC communications task force since October

last year.

’I handled internal and external communications for the first four-way

corporate merger in history. I have learnt a lot from the experience but

it is a good time to move on,’ said Kaposi.

CWC marketing director Ruth Blakemore said she was ’disappointed’ that

Kaposi had not applied for the corporate communications role.

’Esther chose to take the view that she valued the scope of her role

rather than the size of the company,’ said Blakemore. ’The scope of the

new role is smaller and excludes sponsorship and internal

communications.’

Blakemore hopes to recruit the corporate communications director over

the next month.

Once the new person is on board Blakemore said there would be a review

of PR agencies on the roster, and internal appointments for existing

communications staff from the merged companies would be confirmed.
