Nigel Snell, head of corporate affairs at Sun Life and Provincial

Holdings, the holding company for the UK operations of French insurance

giant AXA Group, is leaving his post.

Snell will be replaced as the most senior communications professional at

the company by Noel Privett, currently an associate director at Band and

Brown and a former joint head of public affairs at Midland Bank. Privett

will be head of public affairs. Snell said that he is looking at

opportunities both inside and outside the group prior to Privett’s

arrival at the end of this month.

Sun Life and Provincial Holdings is the holding company for several UK

operations including assurance firm AXA Sun Life, home and motor

insurance company AXA Provincial and direct selling arm AXA Direct. Some

15 internal and external communications staff are employed across these

companies.

Privett will report to group chief executive Mark Wood and will oversee

communications across the group. Sun Life and Provincial uses Bell

Pottinger Financial for financial and corporate PR.

Sun Life and Provincial is listed as a separate company on the UK Stock

Exchange. It floated in 1996 and following its merger with AXA Equity

and Law became the UK’s third-largest life and pensions group behind

Prudential and Standard Life.
