Rover Group’s corporate and UK communications director Ian Strachan

has left after 13 years to take on the top PR post at van manufacturer

LDV.

Strachan joined LDV this week as corporate affairs director. LDV is the

only independent British van maker in the UK, and the largest British

company in its field. Strachan replaces Norman Childs, who was PR

manager and has left to pursue other interests, according to LDV.

’The thrust of this role will be to look at corporate PR which has not

been done to any great degree (at LDV) in the past,’ said Strachan. The

PR role has been promoted within the company. Whereas Childs reported to

marketing director David Gardner, Strachan will report to LDV chief

executive Alan Amey.

Strachan’s remit covers public affairs, relations with the City, and

press and PR and he will look at the need to recruit more in-house

staff.

LDV, which was created in a 1990 management buy-out from Leyland Daf,

controls 11 per cent of the van and light truck market.
