FRANKFURT: Fleishman-Hillard has won an investor relations account

to promote the US state of Michigan to investors in the industrial

heartland of Germany.

The six-figure contract, awarded by the Michigan Economic Development

Corporation, covers the North Rhine and Baden-Wurtemberg regions of

Germany.

This may be extended to cover other regions at a later date.

The contract was won after a two-way pitch against Michigan-based Mars

Advertising. It is a joint effort between the Frankfurt and Chicago

offices of F-H, with three people working in Germany and two in the

US.

Thomas Fox, vice-president of F-H Germany, who will head the German side

of the deal, said the brief consists of organising investment seminars

and press trips for leading German businesses and the German Chamber of

Commerce.

There are more than 150 German companies based in Michigan, including

Mannesman, Siemens and Daimler-Chrysler, which has headquarters in

Detroit.
