Microsoft UK corporate communications head Peter Shackleton has

quit to become a director and shareholder in international IT PR agency

Eclat Marketing.

The agency was launched in September 1998 and is currently a nine-strong

operation and counts offices in Holland and Spain. It also has partner

offices in Munich, Paris, San Francisco and Hong Kong.

In his new role, Shackleton has assumed responsibility for managing

Eclat’s Marlow-based UK operation.

Fellow directors Tom Burgess and Dianne Canham will now concentrate on

building the firm’s international business.

At Microsoft, Shackleton was responsible for corporate brand

advertising, internal communications and managing the reputation of

Microsoft in the UK. He led a staff of 13 and reported to Shaun Orpen,

marketing services director and head of overall communications.

Prior to Microsoft, Shackleton was customer communications head for

National and Provincial Building Society, where he was in charge of a

pounds 13 million communications budget.

’My brief will be to develop new areas of business and new client

opportunities.

One area I am particularly keen to develop is community affairs and

charity-based image campaigns. This is an opportunity to add value to

large brands without treading on the toes of their other PR agencies,’

said Shackleton.
