AEA Technology, the science and technology company privatised last

year, is winding down its PR agency support.

An AEA Technology press officer said the company would be ’reducing or

moving away from external contracts over the next couple of months.’

Another insider said it was in the middle of revising its outsourcing of

PR.

The former commercial division of the Atomic Energy Authority recently

bolstered its in-house PR resource with the appointment of Philip Bailey

as press officer.

Since 1993, AEA Technology has used Lowe Bell Communications to provide

corporate, financial and political PR consultancy and sister company

Good Relations for trade and technical PR.

Andrew Higgins, manager of media affairs said PR was ’pretty settled’

and there were no plans to stop outsourcing altogether. However, he

admitted that the company would be doing more of its trade and corporate

PR in-house.
