Blue blooded bank Coutts and Co has further strengthened its PR

resource with three new appointments.

Former Burson-Marsteller associate director Emma Wheeler joins as

corporate communications manager; Rosie Paterson, formerly an editor at

Chandler Gooding becomes publications manager; and Cathy Weeks,

previously PR co-ordinator at the Stock Exchange, has been made

corporate communications officer.

Since Deborah Botwood-Smith joined as head of corporate communications

last May, she has built up Coutts’ in-house PR team from one to

seven.

Having set up the press office function, she said internal

communications is the current priority since the bank restructured into

30 ’multi-skilled’ teams last summer. At a corporate level the aim is to

build Coutts’ reputation as a ’wealth manager’.

Over the past year Coutts has used Fishburn Hedges for corporate support

and Smythe Dorward Lambert for internal communications but Botwood-Smith

says there are no plans to retain agencies.
