Jim Horsley, former UK head of Ketchum PR, is to replace Jane

Howard as group managing director of Leedex Public Relations.

Horsley resigned as UK managing director of Ketchum when the group

bought Scope Communications three months ago. (PR Week, 13

December).

He was offered the job of joint managing director alongside Scope MD

Mike Hatcliffe at the new company, called Scope Ketchum, but turned it

down.

Leedex has been searching for an agency head since Howard handed in her

notice two months ago. (PR Week, 7 February).

Her resignation, in protest over share dealings within Leedex’ parent

company the Birkdale Group, was closely followed by that of board

director Deborah Lewis.

Horsley, aged 43, joined Ketchum seven years ago when the company bought

his agency Group PR. Once there he set up healthcare and consumer

divisions and took on an international role as Ketchum became a global

player.

When he arrives at Leedex on 15 April he will report to Birkdale

chairman Kevin Morley and oversee a staff of 50 based in London,

Manchester and Bristol.

’What I have seen is people who are very ambitious and good fun and who

want to move the company forward,’ Horsely commented on Leedex.

The agency has a turnover of pounds 3 million and works for a range of

names including Allied Bakeries, Unichem, and Travelodge.
