UK publisher Hachette Filipacchi looks to PR agencies for support

Consumer magazine publisher Hachette Filipacchi UK is in talks with PR agencies as it plots an overhaul of its communications strategy.

The publisher has met several agencies including The Red Consultancy, Colman Getty and Golden Goose PR over the past few days as it draws up business plans for 2010.

The meetings are part of a broader marketing review that includes direct marketing, sampling and promotions.

The publisher is considering hiring an agency to work across four of its key brands – Red, Elle and Psychologies magazines and the Digital Spy site – throughout 2010.

The publisher currently uses Asbury PR to handle media across its portfolio.
 
During the credentials meetings, agencies were asked to demonstrate examples of how they've worked to get repeat purchase.
 
Marketing manager Mel Hutcheon said the meetings did not affect its agencies on the events side of the business, such as The Outside Organisation's work on the Elle Style Awards.
 
This week it emerged that the editor of Psychologies magazine Maureen Rice is to leave after four years.
