STOP PRESS: Bell Pottinger increases operating income

The Bell Pottinger PR agencies reported annual operating income of pounds 31 million for the year ending last December, according to holding company Chime Communications’ annual results. This compares with the previous year’s pounds 27 million. Acquisitions including sports PR and marketing agency Michael Humphreys and Partners accounted for a pounds 600,000 increase in fee income. Profits from the PR agencies stayed static, with a small rise from pounds 3.4 million to pounds 3.6 million. Bell explained the relatively flat profit by the cost of rebranding the company from Lowe Bell to Bell Pottinger and starting up Bell Pottinger’s web site firm, Interactive Bureau.
