DIARY: Marbles man has his shot but fails to bag crooks in jewel heist

Life at hi-tech agency Marbles is usually pretty sedate due to its

sleepy location on the banks of the Thames in Henley. However, the peace

was shattered last Monday when account manager Matt Selby heroically

intervened during a diamond robbery.

Selby had popped down to Henley’s Duke Street for a lunchtime sandwich

and was on his way back to the office when he heard a loud smashing

noise.

Turning around he saw a bloke running out of a jewellers shop with a

large part of its window display containing dozens of diamond rings.

Somehow Selby knew something was afoot: ’He had no mask on but I gave

chase,’ says our have-a-go hero. ’I had almost caught up with him when

he jumped into a waiting van.’

Selby then leapt in front of the van but was forced to back down by the

determined driver who sped off. ’At least I made the guy hesitate,’

laments Selby on the crooks’ escape. ’I ran back to the office and

called the cops.’

Despite his good deed the thieves are still on the run, proving that

crime really does pay. As for Selby the excitement continues with

ongoing client handling for IT companies Forrester Research and Verity.
