UDV hires Bryan to head internal communication

United Distillers and Vintners, (UDV) the wines and spirits division of Diageo, has hired Harriet Bryan as internal communications director.

United Distillers and Vintners, (UDV) the wines and spirits

division of Diageo, has hired Harriet Bryan as internal communications

director.

Bryan joins later this month from British American Tobacco, where she is

strategic communications manager.

She replaces John Harben, director of internal communications at UDV,

and public affairs director Lynette Royle, who worked to communicate the

merger between GrandMet and Guinness to staff at the new company,

Diageo.

Royle has joined WMC Communications as a senior consultant and Harben

joins Smythe Dorward Lambert as a client director at the end of the

month.

Bryan will oversee communications for 25,000 staff at UDV - the world’s

largest wines and spirits company. She reports to human resources

director Gareth Williams.

One of the main challenges facing Bryan will be a programme of 2,000

redundancies at UDV. There are 500 UDV staff at its London

headquarters.

Bryan also has responsibility for staff communications in the 150

countries in which UDV operates. UDV is one of four divisions at Diageo.

The others, Guinness, Burger King and Pillsbury, employ 55,000 people

between them.
