Britain’s first multi-utility, United Utilities, is on the hunt for a

contract publisher to produce a monthly staff tabloid newspaper.

The new publication will replace the newspapers produced by North West

Water and Norweb, which merged in November last year to form United

Utilities. It will be distributed to 22,000 employees and retired staff

worldwide.

NWW’s newspaper Waterfront had a circulation of 9,000 while Norweb’s

Norweb News was sent to 14,000 staff.

A brief has been drawn up for the four colour 12-page tabloid which will

carry extra supplements and special editions throughout the year.

Corporate communications manager Nick Taylor, who is overseeing the

appointment, says the ‘challenge will be to represent the work of a

global organisation working in a variety of sectors.’
