While some of the brand's PR activity will be brought in-house, Nelson Bostock has been enlisted to handle parts of the UK business.

Facebook director of international comms and public policy Debbie Frost told PRWeek that the company is currently looking to appoint a head of PR for the UK. 'In addition, we have made some changes to our external communications support. No pitch process is planned.'

Nelson Bostock chairman Martin Bostock declined to confirm the appointment outright, but said: ‘I can confirm that we are in discussions with Facebook about parts of their UK PR activity.'

Facebook selected Bite Communications to handle its PR in the UK 18 months ago (PRWeek, 16 October 2007). Bite secured the win following a three-way pitch against Chameleon and Octopus.

Bite MD Kath Pooley confirmed the development.
