PUBLIC SECTOR: MPs monitored for charity awareness

Communications personnel at charities, including Barnardo’s, the Blue Cross, the British Heart Foundation and the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, have been offered the chance to see how well their message gets across to MPs. Think-tank, The Future Foundation, proposes to set up a parliamentary monitoring project to gauge MPs’ awareness of, and attitudes to, charity campaigns. The proposal follows the organisation’s successful Charity Communications Monitor project, which tracks the public’s awareness of charities. ’Monitoring the effectiveness of a charity campaign has so far been either too expensive or too superficial. The new project will allow (for) more frequent, detailed and flexible polling of MPs,’ said The Future Foundation’s Joe Saxton.
