Tulchan to handle PR for Kelda restructuring

Yorkshire Water’s parent company Kelda has appointed start-up

financial agency Tulchan Communications to handle its restructure.

The seven-strong agency, run by ex-Brunswick partner Andrew Grant, was

hired after the resignation of incum-bent consultancy Financial

Dynamics.

Although FD could not confirm, it is believed the agency stepped down

from the account due to a conflict of interests over fellow client

Nomura, itself involved in a bid for another rival water company.

Kelda is considering selling all its water and sewerage assets to

customers in Yorkshire, as the firm plans to split into two, forming a

mutually owned non-profit organisation and a contract operations

company. Tulchan was hired on a project basis to manage PR for this

initiative.

Tulchan partner Grant will head the account and report to Kelda external

communications manager, Richard Emmott.

Grant said: ’The main brief is to get regulatory or shareholder approval

for the restructuring of Kelda.’

Kelda marks Tulchan’s first large client win, although fees have yet to

be confirmed.
