Psion hires Lewis for business-to-business drive

Technology PR specialist Lewis has been hired by palmtop

manufacturer Psion Computers to spearhead its business-to-business

drive.

The consultancy was appointed following a competitive pitch against

Company Care, Larkspur Communications, and two-and-a-half-year incumbent

consumer PR agency Nautilus.

Psion Computers, the hand-held computer arm of the Psion group, decided

to re-pitch the account in an effort to move away from consumer PR to

business-to-business.

At Lewis, the account will be led by CEO Chris Lewis, whose brief is to

position Psion Computers above its palm-top rivals, Microsoft and Palm

Pilot.

Reporting to Psion’s head of in-house PR, Anthony Garvey, Lewis will

specifically target consumers in the education, business and medical

arenas.

Garvey said the change of tactics was largely due to increased

competition in the market.

’We decided to make the move to repel our US rivals and we wanted an

agency that could bridge both consumer and business-to-business areas,’

he said.

Psion will also retain financial agency Brunswick, CompanyCare for the

Psion Connect division and Axicom for Psion Enterprise.
