Lansons Communications has won a six-figure retainer account with

Scottish Amicable to raise its profile in the personal finance and

consumer arena.

Scottish Amicable, the Prudential’s independent financial adviser

subsidiary, appointed financial services specialists Lansons after a

competitive pitch, which included Citigate Dewe Rogerson and First

Financial of Bell Pottinger.

Lansons replaces incumbent agency Luther Pendragon, which did not

re-pitch for the account in its annual review.

Luther Pendragon partner Andrew Sharkey, who headed the account, said

both the agency and company were going in new directions and took the

review as an opportunity for change.

At Lansons, the account will be led by joint managing director Tony

Langham.

Reporting to Scottish Amicable’s public relations manager Darragh

Leeson, Langham has a brief to increase the company’s national media

profile, concentrating less on trade press.

’We are becoming more marketing-led and feel it’s important to increase

our reputation in personal finance and consumer market places,’ said

Leeson.

Scottish Amicable last year sold pounds 738 million worth of new

premiums.

P Lansons has also been appointed by investment management house Jupiter

to handle its public relations account following the resignation of

financial agency Brunswick last month.
