The Week in Charities - 3 July

The National Association for Colitis and Crohn's Disease has commissioned two surveys that reveal the public is largely unaware of inflammatory bowel disease.

The charity is launching an initiative, 'Rising to the Challenge of Colitis and Crohn's Disease', supported by Emmerdale actor Jeff Hordley. It will aim to improve levels of understanding among the general public. Healthcare Solutions PR is handling the PR for the campaign.

The National Centre for Domestic Violence has appointed Full Portion Media to handle its PR. The agency will raise the profile of charity founder Steve Connor. The account will be headed up by account director Natalie Whitlock.

Stonewall, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality charity, has appointed Carl Watt as director of its Scottish office. Watt is currently head of external relations at Museums Galleries Scotland, and joins the charity this month.

UNICEF has bolstered its team with the appointment of Lara Schlotterbeck, who joins as head of media in the charity's Geneva corporate comms team. Sarah Esptein is replacing Schlotterbeck as head of media in the UK team. Elizabeth Jones also joins the team as media officer for fundraising.
