Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Tesco has poached Downing Street chief press officer Tom Hoskin to be head of corporate media. As first revealed on prweek.com, Hoskin will make the switch in September. He is a former head of news at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Standard Life is on the hunt for public affairs support. The Edinburgh-based insurer is planning to hold a pitch in late July.

CIPR former president Lionel Zetter has been appointed public affairs adviser to The European Azerbaijan Society, based in London.

Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has hired its first policy officer. Rob Jervis-Gibbons joins the charity after six years as an aide to Sian James, Labour MP for Swansea East, and Huw Edwards, ex-Labour MP for Monmouth.

The public administration select committee resumes its lobbying inquiry this Thursday. PRCA director general Francis Ingham and Alliance For Lobbying Transparency co-ordinator Tamasin Cave are expected to attend.

Lady Cumberlege, who used parliamentary facilities to promote her consultancy, will not face disciplinary action. She promised to observe the rules more closely in future.
