The trade association has hired Fern in the newly-created role, which he joins from his position as senior account manager at Cohn & Wolfe.
Fern's role will be to protect and enhance the reputation of the CHPA and its members among stakeholders. This will in large part involve communication of the Association's policy position through public affairs and media relations activity. He will also oversee a re-brand of the CHPA and development of a new Association website for launch later in the year.
He will report to CHPA head of policy Paul Gardiner. He has previously worked at Bell Pottinger and Porter Novelli.
The CHPA is also currently looking to appoint a new policy manager for early July.
The CHPA has over 90 members active across a range of technologies and markets, from micro-CHP to major utility-scale energy plants serving industrial processes and city-wide district heating systems.
