The Children’s Society has made its director of media and campaigns Tim Linehan redundant as part of a restructuring process. Last month, the charity appointed senior Nokia comms executive Elaine Hindal in a new role overseeing marketing, comms and strategic brand management. Linehan is now freelancing. The charity has just secured a partnership with Bauer Media to raise £30,000.

Barnardo’s assistant director of comms – media Puja Darbari has gone on maternity leave and is being replaced by Pippa Rodger. She joins from animal welfare charity The Brooke where she was head of PR. Rodger reports to Barnardo’s director of comms Diana Tickell.

Euro RSCG Biss Lancaster’s Manchester office will handle PR for the Five Stars Scanner Appeal pro bono for the next 12 months. The charity is aiming to raise £250,000 to buy equipment for the city’s new Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, which opened this month.

Sports retailer Sportsdirect.com has become the official sportswear partner of Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life series. The sports retailer will promote the events both in-store and online. It will also launch an experiential and online campaign through PMA Marketing, allowing race participants to send ‘thank you’ video messages to supporters.
