V, the national youth volunteer service, has hired Jane Eggleton as PR manager. She joins from homeless charity Crisis, where she was comms manager. V recently briefed Shine Communications to handle consumer PR.

CLIC Sargent has called in KTB PR to leverage its status as the official race charity for the inaugural 2010 Virgin London Marathon. The children's cancer charity hopes to inspire as many people as possible to run on its behalf and raise £1.5m.

The British Lung Foundation has signed up former Coronation Street actress Liz Dawn as its celebrity ambassador. Dawn, who played Vera Duckworth on the soap for 34 years, suffers from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Scottish Women's Aid, which works towards the prevention of domestic abuse, has hired Smarts to carry out communication workshops for its members across Scotland to help raise awareness of its services in local communities.

Royal Sun Alliance has teamed up with Breast Cancer Campaign for the second year to put on The RSA Pantomime Horse Derby at Royal Windsor Racecourse on 4 July. Agencies including SFW Media, IncrediBull Ideas, and others will compete in qualifying derbies, dressage and a grand final.
