Get the tone right
Decanter’s recommendations are highly valued. However, it is not just wine reviews. ‘We aim to equip readers with the knowledge to make informed buying decisions, but at the same time to entertain,’ says Woodward. ‘Decanter should celebrate a love of fine wine.’ The magazine also has a small lifestyle section, looking at travel and food.
Break news to decanter.com and pitch topical feature ideas to the magazine. Decanter is keen to develop contacts with travel and food PROs. One piece of advice from Woodward: ‘Remember that we are a consumer magazine, not a trade title.’
