Voucher website capitalises on recession

One of the UK's most visited online voucher websites has hired PR support as it seeks to capitalise on public demand for cheap deals during the recession.

Vouchercodes.co.uk has called in Threepipe after a competitive pitch. The agency will aim to differentiate the site from similar websites, including vouchercodes.com and myvouchercodes.co.uk.

More than nine million Brits used a coupon or reward site in 2008. The number is set to rise in 2009 as consumers become more price conscious and search for the best deals.

Threepipe will report dir-ectly to vouchercodes.co.uk co-founder Max Jennings and will aim to build the profile of the business within the trade media to attract retail partners and affiliate sites. It will also highlight discounts to the lifestyle media and personal finances pages.

Brands already offering discounts on the website include Mothercare, Currys Digital and Pizza Express.

Threepipe co-founder Jim Hawker said: 'The key message we will be communicating is that before buying anything you should visit the website.'
